Our practice is one of the most experienced vitreoretinal practices in Central New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. Founded in 1985 by Jeffrey Lipkowitz, MD, DVRA was the first practice in Mercer County, New Jersey and one of the first practices in Bucks County, Pennsylvania solely dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases. In fact, Dr. Lipkowitz performed the first vitrectomy for retinal disease in Mercer County.
Our three physicians are subspecialists and therefore most patients are referred to us by other eye care professionals or primary care doctors. We understand that the prospect of being treated for a retinal disorder can be as stressful as the thought of losing one's vision. Our doctors use the most advanced imaging techniques and the most sophisticated surgical and non-surgical treatment methods to achieve the most effective results. Open discussions with our patients and their families are encouraged during all phases of your care so that we can understand and address your particular concerns. Our approach is always individualized and tailored to your circumstances. In additon to doctor/patient dialogue, we enable patients to be proactive during their treatment process by providing printed materials as well as web-based resources.
Our Commitment to Research
All three of our doctors are committed to ongoing clinical research and participate in studies which help advance treatment methods for patients in need of vitreoretinal care. They have been principal investigators in many pivotal trials throughout the past decade which have provided more effective treatment therapies for patients with diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal venous occlusion, and vitreomacular traction.
